Ambition out of a thirst for recognition, greed, and self-overestimation are attitudes of the white men and more and more white women. A society guided by the ideal of the heroine's journey, over centuries, has measured itself, miscalculated, produced, and is deconstructing itself and its environment.
Generation Y, which in school learns about classical dramas, classical German literature, primarily by German heroes - sometimes by German heroines - as world literature, is forming itself into the new bourgeoisie. Careerists in all areas, every little corner of everyday life is optimized and professionalized. Not for a better world, but for the better self, moral superiority, and self-gratification - all this under the guise of the do-gooder. Behind it, however, we take ourselves
too seriously, elevate ourselves, suffer from hubris, concealed in self-doubt and psychotherapy.
Hybris is an EP about our non-individuality, our striving for recognition - self-aggrandizement (Nobody, Anybody; Shoes; Hubris). But also, for the first time, Klaus Schüller writes a song about the love for (his) children, the child as queendom/kingdom.
The value of music, art, and culture in our society, which seemed to have sunk almost to a minimum before the Corona Pandemic, is sung about in Apollo. Like a muse that drives us eternally, does not let us despair, allows the past to pass, and makes the future and present seem optimistic.
